Building permits bounce back from decline

OTTAWA — Canadian municipalities issued $8.1 billion in building permits in December, up 4.8% from November, which had suffered a 7.3% decline. The December increase stemmed from higher construction intentions in the residential sector. For all of 2017, the value of building permits was up 10.4% from the previous year, with increases coming from both single- and multi-unit intentions.
