Businesses lagging on sales tax

The Canada Revenue Agency says businesses are falling behind on remitting sales taxes, the Globe and Mail reports. The agency has calculated that the total GST and HST debt owed the federal government was $14.3 billion in September. That was up by 24 percent from $11.5 billion at the outbreak of the pandemic in March of 2020.
