MALVERN, Pa. — DBMP LLC, an affiliate of CertainTeed LLC that holds the legacy asbestos liabilities of the former CertainTeed Corp., announced that it has filed for Chapter 11 relief in a U.S. Bankruptcy Court. The Chapter 11 process would immediately stay all litigation, allowing the company time and protection to negotiate an agreement in a single forum. DBMP’s asbestos liabilities relate primarily to various products manufactured and sold by CertainTeed Corp., which last manufactured products containing asbestos in 1992. At the time of the bankruptcy filing, DBMP had more than 60,000 claims, more than 32,000 of which are in active litigation.
