ISSAQUAH, Wash. — Costco said that for its first quarter ended November 22, it had net sales of $42.35 billion, an increase of 16.9 percent from $36.24 billion last year. Comparable sales rose by 16.2 percent in Canada (16.8 percent excluding the effects of currency exchange and gas price fluctuations) and shot up 86.4 percent in the online channel.
