Canac-Marquis Grenier has been fined $40,000 for violating the Species at Risk Act. Environment and Climate Change Canada said the retailer pleaded guilty of blowing snow from its La Prairie, Que., store’s lumber yard into a habitat of the western chorus frog. The species, one of Quebec’s smallest frogs, is protected by an emergency order issued under the act in 2016.
