OTTAWA — Housing starts seasonally adjusted for all areas in Canada reached 222,771 units in October, up 1.6% from 219,293 units in September, reports CMHC. This marks nine months out of the past 10 in which starts have exceeded the 200,000 mark. Urban starts increased by 2.5% in October to 205,935 units, while multiple urban starts jumped by 12.5% to 149,593 units. Single-detached urban starts decreased by 17.1% to 56,342 units.
