Lowe’s & Home Depot: two different strategies

TORONTO — Both Lowe’s and Home Depot are focused on combining bricks and mortar sales with the burgeoning online channel. But long term, their strategies could prove to be quite distinct. According to an article in the Financial Post, both companies are benefitting from Canada’s heated housing market, and both are targetting the contractor customer. Home improvement retailers in general have an advantage over online sales, due to the service-oriented nature of many LBM sales, and the need for well-educated staff to help guide customer purchases.
