Metro Inc. reported Q1 sales of $4.28 billion, an increase of 6.2 percent from Q1 2020. Net earnings rose 12.3 percent to $191.2 million. Online food sales soared by about 170 percent, leading the grocer to accelerate its roll-out of click-and-collect services. CEO Éric Richer La Flèche says about 170 stores in Quebec and Ontario will offer click-and-collect by year’s end. In November, he had announced a target of just over 100 stores by the end of 2021.
