Twenty-five years ago, on Dec. 13, 1999, we published our last Hardlines weekly newsletter of the millennium. To mark the occasion, we interviewed then-president of Home Depot Canada, Annette Verschuren. In the interview, she predicted that, eventually, Home Depot Canada would have 120 stores. It had 53 at the time of the interview. Verschuren eventually opened her 179th store shortly before she left the company in 2011, having grown the company from 19 stores in 1996, when she was hired.
