Toronto area housing market remains hot, with exceptions

TORONTO — Home sales in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) were up year over year for the fourth month in a row. According to the Toronto Regional Real Estate Board, sales through the Toronto area were up 25.1 percent compared to October 2019. In the detached market segment, the pace of annual sales growth far outstripped growth in new listings. Conversely, listings in the condominium apartment market more than doubled, while sales were only up by 2.2 percent over the same period. The average selling price for all home types combined was $968,318, up 13.7 percent from a year earlier.
