U.S. retail falls unexpectedly

U.S. retail sales were down 0.3 percent in May, the U.S. Commerce Department said this week. In a Reuters poll, economists on average had projected that sales would edge up by 0.2 percent. April’s increase was revised downward to 0.7 percent from the preliminary report of 0.9 percent.
