Unemployment rises in August

OTTAWA — Employment was little changed in August, ticking up 0.1% as an increase in full-time employment was offset for the most part by a drop in part-time work, according to Statistics Canada. At the same time, the unemployment rate rose for the first time by 0.2% after holding steady at 6.8% for six consecutive months, as more people sought work. Compared with the same time last year, employment was up 1.1%
