BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Walmart International’s new president and CEO is David Cheesewright, a former Asda exec and most recently CEO of Walmart’s Europe, Middle East & Africa, and Canada regions. Cheesewright succeeds Doug McMillon, who takes the reins as CEO of Wal-Mart Stores. If the past is any indicator, the position has served as a stepping stone to the top job. Like McMillion his outgoing predecessor Mike Duke was elevated to Wal-Mart CEO from the international CEO’s office. McMillon takes over February 1, CNBC reports.
