Staples brings new retail, coworking concept to downtown Toronto

RICHMOND HILL, Ont. — Staples Canada launches its new concept store this week in downtown Toronto. In addition to more than 1,000 new products, it will feature marketing services for businesses, a dedicated space for community events and guest speakers called Spotlight, a Mos Mos Coffee location and the first Staples Studio, a 4,500-square-foot in-store coworking space. “We’ve designed this new store with community in mind,” CEO David Boone said in a statement.

Staples Studio will provide entrepreneurs, start ups, small businesses and students a space that includes lounge areas, community kitchens, private and shared offices and meeting rooms. Among the amenities offered are wireless charging, standing desks and built-in live streaming. An on-site community manager and staff will offer support, while a Spotlight auditorium-style space will host events.

Being situated within the store, members will have access to its full range of products and services, including in-house marketing, web design, print and tech services. The Staples Studio is unique to the new location for the time being, but Staples plans to roll out the concept to other markets in the future.
