OTTAWA ― Costco has confirmed its rumoured interest in opening a store and warehouse in Rimouski, Que. Spokesman Ron Damiani this week stressed that plans for an opening in the city are “very embryonic” and that it would be “speculative” to weigh in on a timetable or location for the project. Mayor Marc Parent acknowledged that discussions with the company are ongoing. Costco’s interest in the area dates back several years, and it says it has a base of customers there who shop at its stores in the Quebec City region. The company could not confirm whether it would be ready to make an announcement before the end of the year.
