MADISON, Wis. — Spectrum Brands Holdings rode the first quarter to profit, largely a benefit of the company’s acquisition of Stanley Black & Decker’s hardware and home improvement division in late 2012. For the period ended Dec. 29, Spectrum Brands reported a profit of $54.3 million, compared with a year-earlier loss of $13.4 million, reports The Wall Street Journal.
