HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. — Sears has cut the ribbon at the first three stores under its new Sears Home & Life banner. The smaller format stores range in area from 10,000 to 15,000 square feet and omit apparel categories in favour of a focus on appliances, mattresses, tools and smart home products. “We’ve been listening to our customers… and they told us they want our best categories—appliances, mattresses, tools and our Home Services offering,” said Peter Boutros, chief brand officer for Sears and Kmart and president of Kenmore, Craftsman and DieHard brands. “Our customers also will have access to our entire product offering through the online Search Bar.” The new stores are located in Lafayette, La.; Overland Park, Kan.; and Anchorage, Alaska.
