QUEBEC CITY ― Iconic Quebec retailer La Maison Simons is integrating automation and robotics into the operations of its distribution centre. In a new video CEO Peter Simons, the fifth-generation head of the family firm, explains that its “strategy has evolved so as to begin to understand how we could mix, in our business model, e-commerce with physical stores, and what would be the role of each.” Accordingly, La Maison Simons is investing a “gigantic effort” in bringing automation, including robotics, to its distribution centre. Simons said the initiative will give DC workers tools to better serve customers, citing his father’s advice that “Everyone works hard, but it’s necessary to work smart”.
