Home décor sales trending in the U.S.

SPECIAL REPORT — U.S. retailers are seeing strong sales in home décor categories as consumers outfit their home to double as offices, classrooms and workout spaces. TJX Companies, whose banners include TJ Maxx and Marshalls, reported that sales at its HomeGoods stores rose by 22 percent year-over-year. Target has seen a 30 percent spike, on a yearly basis, in its home décor segment. “Not surprisingly, our guests’ heightened focus on staying at home was also evident in our home category,” CEO Brian Cornell told analysts on a call last week. Traditional home improvement retailers like Lowe’s and Home Depot also benefited from the wave, each posting healthy sales gains this month.
