SPECIAL REPORT — He was, for many, the both first and the best of the actors to play James Bond. Sir Sean Connery, the Scottish actor who appeared in the role of the fictional secret agent in seven movies, passed away in his sleep last week at the age of 90.
Born into poverty in Edinburgh in 1930, he got his first job as a teenager as a milkman. He became a coffin polisher before breaking into acting. His career took off in 1962 when he starred as author Ian Fleming’s roguish spy in “Dr. No.” Over his career he received an Academy Award (for his supporting role in “The Untouchables” and was knighted in 2000.
