As Manitoba lifts rules, some businesses keep them voluntarily

But CBC News reported last week that some Winnipeg-area businesses were planning to continue the requirement of their own initiative.

“Many of our clients that we’ve talked to do not feel comfortable coming in without masks at this point in the game,” said Charles Garinger, who co-owns Hive Hair Co. “We support that and we feel the same.”

The government has also lifted capacity limits but there too some businesses are keeping the rules in force. One Family Fitness is sticking to 50 percent occupancy, with distancing requirements.

“We kind of want to take a phased approach,” owner Dino Camire explained.
