Home Hardware Stores Ltd. and Tree Canada marked the 10th National Tree Day by planting hundreds of trees and shrubs across Canada. National Tree Day is held annually on the Wednesday of National Forest Week, observed each September by federal statute, to underscore the health and environmental benefits of trees.
“For the past 29 years, Home Hardware has partnered with Tree Canada to beautify our green spaces and foster a healthier environment,” said Kevin Macnab, president and CEO of Home Hardware Stores, in a release. “This is just one of the countless ways our independent dealer-owners continue to give back to their communities.”
Home Hardware’s collaboration with Tree Canada dates back to the nonprofit’s founding in 1992 as the National Community Tree Foundation. Originally established with the support of the Canadian Forest Service, it adopted its current name when it became a private charitable organization in 2007.
