Sales of new single-family houses in April 2014 were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 433,000, according to estimates released jointly by the U.S. Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. This is 6.4% above the revised March rate of 407,000, but is 4.2% below the April 2013 estimate of 452,000. The median sales price of new houses sold in April 2014 was $275,800; the average sales price was $320,100.
