U.S. home builders call for end to lumber tariffs

The National Association of Home Builders, representing 140,000 builders, developers, and contractors in the U.S., has called on the White House to end tariffs on Canadian softwood lumber. NAHB chairman Jerry Konter told administration officials by teleconference that costs for materials are up 20 percent on a year-over-year basis. “If our trade protectionist policies are not creating domestic jobs or increasing domestic production, then it’s time to revisit our trade positions,” he said.
