U.S. housing starts fell by 4.2 percent in October to an annualized pace of 1.43 million units, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Single-family starts dropped to a rate of 855,000 units. Building permits declined by 2.4 percent to a rate of 1.53 million units, with single-family permits hitting their lowest level since the first months of the pandemic.
