Retail sales increased 0.5 percent to $62.1 billion in December, according to new data from StatCan. Sales increased in seven of 11 subsectors, representing 75.1 percent of retail trade. LBM and garden sales recorded a decline of 3.8 percent, the largest in the core retail categories.
