Actor and director Gordon Pinsent died last week at 92. A veteran of the Stratford Festival, he appeared in his first major film, fellow Canadian Norman Jewison’s The Thomas Crown Affair, in 1968. During his career he was named a Companion of the Order of Canada and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. In 2008, he won a Genie Award for his performance in Away From Her, adapted from a short story by Alice Munro. Pinsent married actress Charmion King in 1962; she died in 2007. Their daughter is actress Leah Pinsent, who is married to actor Peter Keleghan.
