A report from Bloomberg recently detailed how Walmart is using AI to negotiate with vendors. Walmart, the largest company in the world, started publicizing its use of AI throughout its operations during the pandemic. Now, Bloomberg reports it is using AI to haggle with vendors for some of its supplies—starting with shopping carts.
Walmart is reported to be using a chatbot provided by California-based Pactum Inc., a firm that specializes in “autonomous negotiation software.” Walmart tells the software which products to source and a budget. Pactum AI gets the best deal, Bloomberg says, negotiating with humans.
