Star Building Materials has announced it’s investing in a $53 million expansion. The plan is to double the production of trusses, engineered wood products, prefabricated wall panels, and interior finishing production. It will add more than 140 new jobs.
The Calgary-based dealer, a member of Independent Lumber Dealers Co-operative, is a division of Qualico, a diversified real estate and commercial and residential construction company. The move is expected to help alleviate some of the stresses the construction industry has faced post-Covid, such as ongoing labour and material shortages.
