In the June 16, 2003 Hardlines, we reported that Robert Dutton (pictured), then-president and CEO of RONA, had just visited Calgary for a groundbreaking ceremony for the company’s planned new western distribution centre. “It’s a key part of RONA’s attempts to increase its presence and assert its commitment in western Canada,” we wrote. The 300,000-square-foot facility cost $30 million. In 2021, the company (then Lowe’s Canada) built a much bigger DC just northeast of Calgary, measuring 1.23 million square feet.
