Federal labour minister launches review of B.C. port strike

Seamus O’Regan, the federal labour minister, has instructed his officials to conduct a formal review of the recent B.C. port strike, to see if there are “structural issues” that caused it. A 13-day strike by port workers in July caused disruptions to container traffic that affected the home improvement industry and the Canadian economy. O’Regan said via social media that the goal is to look for ways to prevent future work stoppages in Canada’s ports.
