Throwback Thursday: Ten years ago, Target announced 23 more stores for Canada

Throwback Thursday is a weekly feature in which we dip into the voluminous, dust-encrusted, Hardlines Weekly Report archives, which are heavily-guarded by armed personnel in a crypt below street level at our Bay Street HQ.

In our Sept. 9, 2013 Hardlines Weekly Report, we wrote…

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Target has announced the opening dates for 23 additional stores in Canada, including its first stores in Quebec and Nova Scotia. Other locations include more stores in Ontario in the Ottawa Capital Region. The stores are scheduled to open this fall, with 14 opening on September 17 and nine opening on October 18. Target currently has 68 stores open across Canada with plans to open a total of 124 locations by the end of 2013.

Two years later, Target exited Canada.
