Shopify to lobby federal government on digital policy

Ottawa-based Shopify, the proprietary e-commerce platform, has hired a lobbyist. The publicly-traded company, which had revenues exceeding US$5.6 billion last year, last week officially registered to lobby the federal government using the services of Global Public Affairs Inc. Rick Roth is the lobbyist. The website iPolitics says that Roth will lobby “on behalf of Shopify to discuss Canada’s digital economy strategy and science, technology. and innovation policies with respect to supporting entrepreneurs and small business.”
