TORONTO — Hudson’s Bay Co. will open Canada’s first Saks Fifth Avenue and discount Off Fifth stores in the spring of 2016, just months after Nordstrom’s planned opening in Calgary this week. Both firms say they’ve been following Target’s troubled entry into Canada and learned from its mistakes, with HBC head Richard Baker calling the planned rollout of Saks “very low risk.” Retail observers, however, are warning that the high-end market is in danger of overcrowding, according to Report on Business.
