WASHINGTON — U.S. housing starts in August dropped to 956,000 seasonally adjusted, down 14.4% from July but up 8.0% from August 2013. Building permits were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 998,000, down 5.6% from July, but up 5.3% from August 2013.
