Investment in U.S. building construction fell unexpectedly by 0.3 percent in June, according to U.S. Census Bureau data. May’s decline meanwhile was revised downward to 0.4 percent. In a Reuters poll, economists projected a 0.2 percent increase in spending. Investment in residential construction also fell by 0.3 percent, including a 1.2 percent drop in spending on single-family projects.
