TORONTO — Suspicious activity has begun to surface on Canadian cards used at Home Depot, according to Global News. A British Columbia resident was among the first Canadian customers notified by Home Depot about a compromised account: the company is now footing the bill for a credit monitoring service, an offer it promises to extend to other affected customers. Home Depot disclosed the breach on September 8, but banks were already positioning themselves to flag and respond to fraud. Despite reported cases in Canada, and a new class-action lawsuit filed in Ottawa on behalf of the cardholders, U.S. accounts have born the brunt of the hack’s impact.
