Canada files CUSMA challenges against lumber duties

International trade minister Mary Ng announced this week that Canada is disputing U.S. duties on softwood lumber under the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement. The latest measures nearly doubled duties on Canadian softwood and include both countervailing and anti-dumping tariffs. In her statement, Ng underscored “the benefit of finding a mutually beneficial solution that creates greater opportunities in the forestry sectors in Canada and the United States.”
