Throwback Thursday: 10 years ago, Canadian Tire launched its digital loyalty program

Throwback Thursday is a regular weekly feature in which we dip into the archives of the Hardlines Weekly Report.

After taking the lead in retail loyalty programs in this country in 1958 with its Canadian Tire “money,” Canadian Tire Corp. was preparing to take another shot at loyalty greatness, we reported 10 years ago.

We announced in our Sept 15, 2014, edition of the Hardlines Weekly Report that, after extensive testing in Nova Scotia for two years, “Canadian Tire has finally announced its intention to roll out the [digital] program nationally.” It wasn’t called Triangle Rewards when it launched. That moniker would be used from 2018 onwards.
