Building permits soar in July

The value of building permits in Canada surged 22.1 percent to $12.4 billion in July, StatCan reports, rebounding from two consecutive monthly declines. Residential permits rose 16.7 percent to $7.6 billion thanks to a major increase in the multi-family sector. Single-family permits declined by 1.9 percent or $50.3 million.
