NEW YORK — On the heels of Amazon’s announcement that it will erect a physical store in midtown Manhattan, the Financial Post is reporting on the trend toward outlets for online retailers. Men’s fashion e-retailer FrankandOak.com, for example, found that opening an old-fashioned boutique in Montreal’s trendy Mile End neighbourhood opened them up to an older demographic that was less inclined to shop online, but very interested in looking sharp. “It’s not that online is winning and bricks and mortar is losing,” says “Retail Prophet” Doug Stephens. “It’s that a new form of retail is being born.”
