In our weekly newsletter of Jan. 10, 2000, a quarter-century ago, we reported on the “first casualty in Canada’s home improvement big box wars.” That was a Revy Home & Garden, which was slated to close in Surrey, B.C. Revy was feeling the pressure with three competing big boxes in Canada—Home Depot, RONA, and Réno-Dépôt. RONA would acquire Revy 18 months later, in July 2001.
