VANCOUVER — Canada will get new Ikea stores in the coming year, but they will be one-tenth the size of a typical Ikea. At around 37,000 square feet, they will have limited inventory and serve instead as pickup sites for the furniture giant’s online customers. According to Business Vancouver, Ikea Canada president Stefan Sjöstrand intends to have five to 10 of them by the end of 2015. Online sales account for 5% of Ikea’s Canadian sales, which total $1.7 billion, Sjöstrand said.
