NEW YORK — While retailers have been pushing buy online, pickup in store options, an experiment by StellaService casts doubt on how much time they really save. The customer service researchers sent shoppers out to purchase a variety of items at 11 major chains, including Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Target. Purchasing each item twice – the traditional way and with BOPIS – shoppers found they were actually out the door faster at some stores just lining up at checkout.
