ST. JACOBS, Ont. — Home Hardware’s very first store got a new home last week. St. Jacobs Home Hardware celebrated its new location on the other side of the main street of the small Ontario town that is also home to the dealer-owned co-op’s head office and distribution centre. Seventy years ago, the store was managed by Henry Sittler, who hired Walter Hachborn to handle sales. When owner Gordon Hollinger passed away, Sittler and Hachborn purchased the store. The original location will be renovated to accommodate an expanded Home Furniture store and a museum of Home Hardware history.
