Amazon invests in natural gas for trucking

Amazon has ordered more than 1,000 natural gas-fuelled trucks engines for its U.S. fleet, the e-retail giant told Reuters late last week.

“Amazon is excited about introducing new sustainable solutions for freight transportation and is working on testing a number of new vehicle types including electric, CNG and others,” the company said in a statement. The supplier of the engines is a joint venture between Cummins Inc. and Canadian firm Westport Fuel Systems, based in Vancouver.
