TORONTO — Amazon has signed leases for additional space in two downtown Toronto buildings where it currently has offices. The move, which adds 100,000 square feet to the e-retail giant’s office footprint, comes months after Canadian rival Shopify expanded its own offices. In June, Shopify exercised its option to occupy a further 90,000 square feet at Toronto development The Well, for a total square footage of 340,000. Both moves are unusual at a time when the pandemic has slowed office rentals.
