ST. JACOBS, Ont. ― Billings Home Hardware in Brockville, Ont., began liquidation last week after more than 50 years, the Brockville Recorder and Times reports. Initially slated to take place over three days, the clearance will continue until inventory is exhausted. Customers thronged the store over the weekend to find deals but also to pay tribute to owner Bob Billings, who has operated the store from its opening. The country general store is the latest to fold in an increasingly competitive retail climate dominated by big boxes.
