Building trades spared as Montreal, Quebec City enter “red zone”

QUEBEC — The three Quebec regions entering the highest level of public health measures this week won’t see restrictions re-introduced on construction sites. “For the moment, the construction industry won’t be affected,” Association de la construction du Québec economist Jean-Philippe Cliche told Le Journal de Québec. The province’s initial lockdown measures saw jobsites left in limbo from March 25 to May 10. The regional “red alert” announced this week for Greater Montreal, Quebec City and Chaudière-Appalaches will see restaurant dining rooms and bars close at midnight on October 1, but most other businesses remain open.
