TORONTO — Retail sales in Canada are beginning to slow down after two years of accelerating growth, according to analyst Ed Strapagiel. After reaching its peak in April, the trend has been underperforming, with more of the same likely ahead. Projections to the year’s end suggest a weak holiday season for store merchandise, which is highly dependent on Christmas sales. Some sectors, however, continued to see above-average gains, including home furnishings.
